How Technology Can Transform Local Logistics and Delivery: My Journey Building Daxir
For over 16 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work as a software engineer at companies that impact millions of users, from Spotify to U.S. Bank. Throughout that journey, I’ve learned one key lesson: real innovation happens when technology solves human problems, not just technical ones.
One challenge that has always inspired me is the fragmentation in mobility and logistics systems. Today, thousands of operators, local businesses, and couriers depend on platforms that charge high commissions, limit their control, and hold back their growth.
That reality became the starting point for creating Daxir, a platform that unifies mobility, delivery, and commerce in a single ecosystem.
From Idea to Architecture: Building Scalable Technology
Daxir was born from a clear vision: to give operators and local businesses the same technology tools used by major platforms, but under their own control.
To achieve this, we designed a modular, scalable architecture built with:
- Node.js, Fastify, Firebase, PostgreSQL, Docker and Kafka
- A mobile app built in React Native
- Microservices for flexibility and gradual growth
- Some of the features we’ve already developed include:
- Real-time fleet and order management -Smart routing with GPS navigation and deviation detection -Integrated payments with Stripe and automatic tax calculation via Avalara AvaTax -An admin dashboard with advanced analytics and direct communication between users, drivers, and businesses
Every component was designed to solve the most common pain points in the logistics industry: efficiency, independence, and scalability.
The Impact: Technology That Empowers, Not Replaces
In Latin America and the Caribbean, more than 70% of transportation and delivery businesses still operate manually. That represents a huge digitalization opportunity, but also a challenge: doing it with technology that is accessible, integrated, and built locally.
With Daxir, our goal is to democratize mobility technology, allowing any operator or merchant to become their own Uber or Rappi, without depending on third parties.
My vision is simple:
Innovation shouldn’t be concentrated in the hands of a few, but distributed so more entrepreneurs, drivers, and local businesses can grow with autonomy.
Daxir is a step in that direction, a bridge between mobility, logistics, and commerce, powered by modern technology and human purpose. Because at the end of the day,
it’s not just about moving people or packages, it’s about moving opportunities.
If you're part of a company, cooperative, or small business looking to optimize your logistics or delivery operations, I’d love to connect and show you how Daxir can help you digitalize your operations without losing autonomy.
