Verizon – Cloud Management & Network Mapping Platform

- Published on

At Verizon Wireless Solutions, I developed a full-stack platform designed to manage cable connections, equipment, cloud resources, and network infrastructure across the United States. The project focused on improving network visibility, optimizing cloud operations, and providing real-time infrastructure insights to internal engineering teams.
Network Mapping & Real-Time Visualization
I built interactive network mapping tools using React, allowing users to:
- Display physical and virtual infrastructure on dynamic maps
- Add, edit, and remove nodes, cables, and equipment
- Visualize data center connections, rack layouts, and network paths
- Quickly identify misconfigurations or outages
- Access detailed metadata for each network asset
This system significantly improved operational awareness and reduced troubleshooting time for network engineers.
Microservices Architecture & RESTful API Development
I implemented a fully modular Node.js microservices architecture, integrated with MongoDB, to support scalable and independent services. The backend enabled:
- CRUD operations for infrastructure assets
- Authentication and access control
- High-performance data retrieval for mapping tools
- Real-time updates and synchronization
- Seamless scaling across cloud environments
This architecture allowed Verizon to decentralize services and evolve their platform without disruptions.
Cloud Resource Automation & IaaS Integrations
I also engineered Node.js modules that interacted directly with Verizon’s cloud-based Linux infrastructure, automating key operations related to:
- Compute provisioning and deprovisioning
- Storage management
- Network configuration
- Disk allocation and lifecycle operations
- Infrastructure state monitoring
These modules powered Verizon’s next-generation Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform, increasing automation, reducing manual work, and ensuring consistent cloud operations nationwide.
Impact & Results
Through this project, Verizon gained a more accurate, scalable, and automated way to manage cloud resources and nationwide network infrastructure. The improved tooling enhanced internal workflows, reduced operational overhead, and delivered faster time-to-resolution for network-related issues.
